Kimberly M. Finkbeiner, MPT
Child Safety Consultant
President & Owner of Babyproofing Pittsburgh
Kimberly Finkbeiner, born and raised in the South Hills, founded Babyproofing Pittsburgh in 2000 after the birth of her daughter Kayla. She was looking for more flexibility in her schedule while raising her family, and the idea of assisting other parents in making their homes a safer environment for their child(ren) appealed to Kim on several levels - as a parent, a medical professional with training in child development, and as a business venture with the potential to be rewarding, challenging and fun. Kim has a B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Tech and a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the Augusta University Medical College of Georgia. She trained to be a professional childproofer with the co-founders of the International Association for Child Safety (www.iafcs.org) - the network of child safety professionals and babyproofers which she has been a member of since opening her business. Kim currently works part-time as a Physical Therapist in home health while also running her childproofing business.
Kim has been married to husband Robert since 1988. Robert trained with her and occasionally assists on larger jobs as well as pool fence installations. They have two children, Colin (1990) and Kayla (2001).
Along with training and experience, professionally childproofing a home requires a significant amount of time and physical effort, but Kim truly enjoys the work and finds it very rewarding. Babyproofing Pittsburgh's mission is to give parents and caregivers more peace of mind as their child grows, develops and explores. Babyproofing Pittsburgh works with parents to design an agreeable, livable plan to increase baby's safety in the home and with the prevention of unintentional injuries as the mutual goal.
