FULL IN-HOME CONSULT ($85.00) is the recommended choice for a thorough assessment of the home regarding possible dangers, including those most overlooked by caregivers, and constitutes most consults. Full consultations take an average of 45-90 minutes and include an emailed room-by-room detailed estimate (sent within 72 hours of consult) outlining recommended and available product options, material and installation price breakdowns. A total of at least two (2) home visits for the childproofing process if this standard option is chosen (larger jobs may take more than one day). TO REQUEST AND SCHEDULE A FULL CONSULT, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS BRIEF FORM TO START THE PROCESS.
LIMITED IN-HOME CONSULT ($55.00) for limited areas (i.e. only certain areas of home, 1-2 gates, latches, doors, anchoring) and takes a total of 30 minutes or less for visit; if over 30 minutes, the full consult fee will apply. Please note that limited consults will not address all areas of home and will likely overlook and leave unaddressed safety hazards in the home. A total of at least two (2) home visits for the childproofing process if this option is chosen (larger jobs may take more than one day). TO REQUEST AND SCHEDULE A LIMITED CONSULT, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS BRIEF FORM TO START THE PROCESS.
EMAIL CONSULT ($25.00) may be an option for jobs limited to one or two products (i.e. you only want gates, or a couple gates and some latches, or just want furniture anchored). Email consults will not address all areas of home and will likely overlook and leave unaddressed safety hazards in the home. A total of at least one (1) home installation visit for childproofing process (larger jobs may take more than one day). REMOVABLE MESH POOL FENCING SERVICES:
Babyproofing Pittsburgh is the Authorized Distributor and Installer for Protect-A-Child Pool Fence Company. Before contacting us for an estimate, please visit www.protectachild.com to review available options for colors, gate options etc. Black mesh/posts/border is the most transparent looking. A manual gate is the option most customers choose and involves drilling two extra layback holes for a gate opening of 3 to 6 feet with the same latch as is used to connect all other fence sections. Self-latching gate adds cost (around $550) and is a 3’ wide opening which has a magnetic self-closing latch and a key option to lock gate. Self-latching gates must have 3’ of straight fence line on either side (no angles) of gate for proper tension.
It is recommended that if possible, pool fences go around the entire perimeter of the pool, at least 2 feet out from edge of pool (or more) and not enclosing furniture, although this is up to a customer’s preference. This helps to ensure that when a child is inside a closed fence, it is for water recreation only with direct one-on-one supervision and no distractions – and that when a child is outside a closed fence, all access to water hazard is prevented and allows for socializing, eating, sunbathing and occasional distractions to supervision without the drowning hazard being a factor. This is the best way to safeguard a pool and the first line of defense against drowning recommended by safety experts. If you are putting furniture inside the fence line with the pool, be aware that drowning is a silent killer and can happen quickly when any supervising adult(s) sitting around pool may be distracted for seconds or minutes, so extra caution is vitally important when little ones are inside fence and in/around the water without direct one-on-one supervision.
Following the consult and estimate, clients decide what, if anything, they want to purchase and/or have installed. Lead times vary, but generally allow 1-3 weeks lead time for installation at time of product order.
A 50% materials-only deposit is occasionally required for larger jobs, and is due a week prior to the scheduled installation date. Refer to estimate.
FYI: For any additional install visits after the initial consultation and first installation: A $250.00 minimum total, including material and labor, applies. If under the minimum, a $50.00 fee will apply in addition to the materials and labor for the job.
